Buying Safely on Online Marketplaces
Protect yourself when the platform and the seller are different businesses.

Know who holds each responsibility.
Identify the actual seller
A marketplace may process the payment while an independent seller supplies the item. Check the seller name, location, rating history, return address, and who provides the warranty.
Read the platform guarantee carefully. It may cover non-delivery but not every dispute about quality or suitability.
Keep communication on-platform
Messages and payments inside the marketplace create an evidence trail and may preserve buyer protection. Requests to move to private messaging or direct transfer are a serious warning sign.
Inspect listings critically
Reverse-search suspicious images where practical, compare the price with normal market value, and ask for specific information that a genuine seller should know.
